50th Anniversary of the Goat!

This past Saturday morning I headed back out to the Automobile Driving Museum, as they were hosting a car show for the 50th anniversary of the GTO. It turned out to be a perfect sunny southern California day. As we pulled up and looked for a place to park, I noticed a great turn out of cars on the lot. We were motioned to park on the far lot just south of the Hot Rod/Car Craft garage where we found what I feel to be a couple of the hidden gems from the show. There was the Yellow GTO I had seen before at the Downtown El Segundo car show last year, and that beautiful blue GTO in front of the red Garage.
Apparently I just noticed after going thru all the pictures I had taken, I gravitated towards the '67 and earlier models. There was also a couple of non GTO's at the show including the Hurst Oldsmobile, the Chevy Nomad, and '70 Chevelle that was actually the cover car from OPG's 2014 parts catalog. I hope you guys enjoy these pictures!

A Son's Great Gift

This morning as I was heading to make one of my deliveries at work. I noticed this clean GTO parked across the street from my stop, and a couple of guys checking it out. I was running early, so I decided to head over and talk to them about the car. I also wanted to invite them to the Automobile Driving Museum's Tribute show for the 50th Anniversary of the Pontiac GTO this weekend.
After talking to them for a couple of minutes i came to find out one of the guys there, Adam had just got the car back from a 1 year restoration, and it was a gift to his dad Steve (who was the other guy there) for his '65th B-Day. Who unfortunately will not be here to bring the GTO to the anniversary show this weekend, which would've been pretty cool with his new baby. Although i know he will be having a blast driving this beauty up to San Fransisco, then having the car shipped home to Canada where he's from.
I was honored to have been able to meet them at this time, and enjoy seeing such a great gift be given from Son to Father.

By Special Request

I had a request from an anonymous comment on a previous post from the Grand National Roadster Show. It was in regards to the '68 Firebird I posted a couple of pictures of. Since it was one of my favorite cars from the show, I decided to do this special post.
If I remember correctly the car was brought down from Oregon, and had just finished an 8 year restoration. From the flawless mirror finish black paint job, The staggered fitment wheel & tires, to the slammed stance from being on air bags. Which were used for car shows and "Daily Driving" and they had built in a quick change set up for coil overs, for when the car is  raced on the track in Road Course and Autocross races (which he said he hasn't yet, but can't wait until he does). This Firebird was really built to be driven and enjoyed.
Hopefully the owner of this car sees this post, and fills us in with all the specifics of the build.
